December is here and I’m feeling jolly.
The Tree is up, the fridge is stocked with more eggnog than food, and all I want for Christmas is for you to download the latest issue of Transformers: REANIMATED. Because Issue 77, Departure of the Dinobots story with Part 2 is here!
Helping us with our holiday cheer is the amazing Transformers artist Winston Chan, who once again brought his A-game to our series with this bold cover, featuring Grimlock in his Pretender Shell seemingly abandoning his fellow Dinobots.
In the heart of Iacon City and without Grimlock, Slag leads the Dinobots on a reckless attack on Decepticon HQ! But when Grimlock finally arrives to confront Slag’s rebellious temper, he finds himself in a fight for command of the Dinobots! Can Grimlock prove that his leadership is the Dinobots’ only chance for survival? Or will he (and his Pretender Shell), walk away from his team… forever?
We’re really thankful that Winston was able to work with us on both covers for this two-part story, and it certainly helped tie the issues together visually. The cover for Issue 77 was inspired by the bold cover for X-Men 138 by John Byrne.
Written by Greig Tansley from the Unfunny Nerd Tangent podcast and Youseph (Yoshi) Tanha from the YoshiCast, this G1 adventure follows in the Transformers: ReAnimated tradition of bridging the gap between the cartoon’s second season and the 1986 Movie that defined the childhood of millions.
