The monumental Issue 80 from Transformers: REANIMATED is here! We did it!

80 consecutive issues, all without missing a single monthly release since August of 2019. The longest running Transformers comic book before this was released by MARVEL back in 1984. That comic book series concluded in 1991 with issue 80.

We’re really proud of today’s issue. Its our love letter to not just Transformers, but to the 1980s and the comic book medium.

Through the innocent eyes of youth, an epic Decepticon plot begins to unfold. And in the middle of it all, one Autobot stands tall. This isn’t just another chapter. It’s a moment in time. A reminder that some stories stay with us, even after the pages fade.

The cover for issue 80 has been brought to life by the incredibly talented Transformers artist, Andrew Wildman. A true legend, Mr. Wildman helped bring the original Marvel Transformers comic series to its memorable conclusion. Having worked on issues #69-74 and #76-80, he left a lasting impact on the fandom and played a vital role in shaping the stories and characters that continue to resonate with fans today.

Having Mr. Wildman on the cover of Transformers: REANIMATED #80 is a real honor for us. I can’t think of anyone better to help us mark this occasion.

We started working on this story over five years ago. Back then it had a completely different title and completely different concept. The thing was, we couldn’t make it work. We knew we had a solid foundation for a fun story, but for whatever reason it wasn’t ready. Over the years as time allowed, I would come back to it to try different ideas. We had poured so much work into this story that it would have been a shame to just walk away from it.

Then in November of 2024 it all came together. I remember sending the latest draft to Greig for review. After he read it, I was floored by response. “Yoshi, I think this should be our issue 80.” No notes. No corrections (though we did end up making some in the process of finalizing the script). Just confidence that we had a solid issue 80 to release.

A wise man once said, “Hard work pays off. Dreams come true. Bad times don’t last… but bad guys do.”

Well, your TF ‘bad guys’, Yoshi and Greig, have lasted 80 consecutive issues, with many more to come.

We have so many people to thank for helping us along the way. Family, friends, artists, writers, fans… But the thing is, we’re not done yet. Our story isn’t over. It seems a little premature to start listing off everyone we want to thank when we’re still not done.

So we won’t. But you know who you are. Thank you. We love you.

Written by Youseph (Yoshi) Tanha from the YoshiCast and Greig Tansley from Unfunny Nerd Tangent, this G1 adventure follows in the Transformers: ReAnimated tradition of bridging the gap between the cartoon’s second season and the 1986 Movie that defined the childhood of millions.

So, if you did like issue 80: Mono No Aware, then please consider contacting SKYBOUND Entertainment (Via E-mail or Twitter) and let them know you would have liked to see Transformers: REANIMATED as an ongoing comic book series written by Yoshi and Greig.
