Don’t you just love Halloween? Ghosts, goblins, and everything pumpkin spice! What a perfect month for a fright. Wouldn’t you agree?
Like all great jack-o’-lanterns, Greig and I have been hard at work carving something a little… scarier for you this Halloween. We hope you’re ready for a Transformers tale that chills.
100,000 light years away, it’s found its way to planet Snekker; trapped in a frozen wasteland of a world it could not escape.
Now, the Autobots of Snekker Outpost have made a monumental discovery. Some kind of creature; frozen, not living, not dead, but something else… something deadly.
It seeks comfort. It seeks warmth. And Cybertronian life is the warmest place to hide.

This month’s cover comes from our favorite horror-inspired artist, Ryan Jett from the AutoPod Decepticast podcast. Ryan put a ton of care into this piece—sending us regular updates to make sure the look and feel hit just right. And it does. Just like the story, the cover is a direct homage to the original movie poster for John Carpenter’s The Thing, perfectly blending its eerie tone with the classic G1 Transformers cartoon style.

In sad news, this month also sees the passing of Transformers legend, Ron Friedman; the man who in many ways inspired this project by contributing to the script for The Transformers: The Movie – the ultimate endgame to our very own stories.

Mr. Friedman’s additions to the Transformers mythos cannot be undertstaed, and it is our privilege to honor him with a memorial corner box on this month’s issue.
For more on Mr. Friedman, check out the interview he did with our friends from the Autopod Decepticast.
Written by Greig Tansley from the Unfunny Nerd Tangent podcast and Youseph (Yoshi) Tanha from the YoshiCast, this G1 adventure follows in the Transformers: ReAnimated tradition of bridging the gap between the cartoon’s second season and the 1986 Movie that defined the childhood of millions.
If you enjoyed Who Swarms There?, we’d love your support! Please consider reaching out to SKYBOUND Entertainment (Via E-mail or Twitter) and let them know you’d love to see Transformers: REANIMATED become an official, ongoing comic series written by Yoshi and Greig.
